About Leitmotif 2023

The year 2022, scarred by brutal and unprecedented aggression on Ukraine, has shown us the power of unity and the need for increased resilience. As we look into the future, we draw valuable lessons from the past. Which is why our actions in 2023 will be guided by the leitmotif PARTNERSHIPS FOR CYBER RESILIENCE.

We take another step forward in our mission to bring the global cyber community together, to turn words into actions. Together with public sector officials, members of the civil society, and last but not least – the private sector companies – we will foster stronger partnerships for cyber resilience.

Cryptomage about participation in the ECSO Cyber Investor Days

“Participating in the ECSO Cyber Investor Days at CYBERSEC Forum/EXPO conference, as well as in the European finals in Bilbao, provided us with a few advantages: it helped us to gain visibility, to build relationships in the industry, to access expertise, and meet high-profile investors especially interested in investment in cybersecurity startups. These are critical to a startup’s success in the cybersecurity industry.”

Rising geopolitical tensions continue to test our cyber resilience. The strain on global supply chains goes well beyond semiconductor trade, cyberattacks by state-sponsored groups are on the rise, and lack of unified cyber attribution procedures hinders our ability to react fast and impose sanctions. Additionally, we are facing a variety of challenges stemming from technological development, such as the introduction of electronic ID. What skills, competences and frameworks do we need to solve those problems?
Russian aggression on Ukraine changed the cyber threat landscape a great deal, forcing countries, armies and companies to develop new cyber defence capabilities. It also highlighted the potential of false and manipulated information, which caused a surge in cross-sectoral initiatives aimed at tackling disinformation. On top of that, ransomware becomes more and more prevalent impacting thousands of companies and individuals every year. How to navigate this complex and constantly evolving landscape?
Companies’ support in defending Ukraine although initially praised, sparked a few controversies, raising questions over neutrality of technology and the power of the private sector. The war also prompted global markets to notice Ukraine’s own tech potential and establish closer cooperation with startups from Ukraine. Beyond cyberspace, companies are also commercializing space which highlights the need to address lack of legislative regime and the amount of orbital debris. How will the tech providers’ rise to prominence project into the next years and decades?
Extraordinary times make us take extraordinary steps in technological development. As states, companies and communities work on 5G, it is high time to think ahead and plan for 6G introduction. In the foreseeable future quantum computers might gain the ability to break common encryption protections, moreover, succeed at retroactive decryption of stolen data. We are also in the middle of generative AI explosion with Chat GPT and other tools gaining enormous popularity. The future is here – where is it going to take us?
